List of Units for the Level 1 Flatwater Canoeing Instructor Award
-
The instructional Awards have been devised to give an Instructor at least the minimum level of competence to operate as an Instructor in the outdoor recreation industry. An Instructor is a person who facilitates skill transfer or development to participants in order that they may act independently or with minimal supervision. This requires the Instructor to be able to critique technique, apply a variety of appropriate instructional strategies and may require them to assess participants’ skill acquisition at the end of a program or session.

Appropriate basic paddling skills are a pre-requisite.

Level 1 Flatwater instructors are qualified to instruct and lead groups on flat, undemanding water; including overnight trips.
